• What is Algo VPN?
Algo VPN is a set of open-source scripts that allows a user to quickly set up their own VPN on a VPS or home server. To do so, it makes use of WireGuard, a newer, faster and more secure VPN protocol.
• Why use Algo VPN instead of OpenVPN or WireGuard?
Algo VPN does use WireGuard in its setup, but WireGuard or the older VPN protocol, OpenVPN, can also be used independently. You can use AlgoVPN instead of installing them manually to make the install process more intuitive and hassle-free for the average user.
However, it's worth pointing out that some VPS providers, such as BitLaunch, offer one-click WireGuard and OpenVPN apps that are even more intuitive, and, in our testing, lead to faster speeds. With this option available, you'd only really use AlgoVPN if you want more visibility over the installation process.
• How do I connect to Algo VPN?
You can connect to an Algo VPN by installing the WireGuard app on your device, importing the config file from your VPS server, and hitting "Activate". If you're on mobile, you can alternatively download the QR code for your Algo VPN install via SFTP and scan it on your Android or iOS device.
